FEED
FEED stands for Front End Engineering Design, which comes after the conceptual design or feasibility study. The FEED design focuses the technical requirements as well as rough investment cost for the project. The FEED can be divided into separate packages covering different portions of the project. At this stage, before start of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) phase, various studies take place to figure out technical issues and estimate rough investment cost. The FEED package – the product of the FEED - is used as the basis for bidding the execution phase contracts.
A good FEED will reflect all the client’s project specific requirements and avoid significant changes during the execution phase. During the FEED phase there is close communication between the project owners and operators and the engineering contractor to work up the project specific requirements. It is important to reflect client’s intentions and project specific requirements into the FEED Package without fail, in order to avoid significant changes during the EPC phase.
